GBE provides cast resin transformers with powers up to 30 MVA and voltages up to 52 kV, with no-load or on-load switching. The constructional design used for a power transformers is completely different from that used for distribution transformers. Considerable masses are involved, and during the design stage it is necessary to take into account not just mechanical and electrical issues, but also those related to material expansion during operation. Correct distribution of the electric field inside the windings must be ensured. Even more importantly, to prevent partial discharges and resonant overvoltages, the GBE design ensures proper distribution of the capacitance between windings, layers and parts of the coil and to earth. The constructional design of power transformers takes into account any dimensional aspects based on the type of installation, and optimizes losses to ensure that the product offered is competitive, not just in terms of the purchase price, but also the operating cost.
