Tripled production capacity for power transformers
GBE produces air-insulated, cast resin and oil-filled, special and distribution transformers and reactors. In recent years we’ve increased the number of units produced for each type of transformer and reactor, as well as the average power, following an increase in orders for the power division, which is steadily gaining ground in all markets where the company has an active presence.
Many investments have been made in this field due to the fact that as the number of kVA in play increases, so too does the size and weight of the machines, the insulation voltages and therefore the currents in the windings themselves. This expansion has entailed not only the production process, a third test room used for special testing and the reorganisation of the technical department, but also the sales network composed of distributors and agents who have worked to promote our brand as a supplier of increasingly larger machines in a highly demanding market.
The plant dedicated to the power division covers the entire piece of industrial land purchased two years ago. It was decided to develop two adjacent bays, 20 metres long and 80 metres wide. The structure is an impressive 12 metres high. In one of the bays, mobile platforms were built which descend 3 metres below floor level to allow all assembly operations on the active part, composed of the core and windings, at eye-level, but also to allow insertion of the core and coils in the tank in the case of oversized oil-filled transformers.
Today, GBE is able to produce cast resin and oil-filled power transformers weighing up to 100 tonnes, thanks to the use of new bridge cranes with important dimensions and heights. The production capacity for this type of product has tripled, thus allowing GBE to become, even more so than before, a complete and strategic supplier to energy production and transmission companies around the world.
Eco 3+ transformers with amorphous core As of 1 July 2021, all transformer manufacturers will have to strictly comply with the production of transformers classified with the term Tier 2, with the exception of specific applications, as laid down in Regulation no. 548/2014 with Phase 2. However, for over 10 years, GBE has been offering […]
ISO 45001 Certification Workplace health and safety: the personnel are the primary wealth for GBE GBE has integrated its IMS system with ISO 45001 certification to ensure safe and healthy workplaces and prevent work-related injuries and illnesses. For many years, GBE has been in possession of ISO 9001 certification related to product quality and ISO […]
Quay transformers: Shore-to-Ship Respect for the port environment, therefore, reduction of consumption, pollution and noise The regulations in port areas increasingly call for a reduction in the air and noise pollution produced by the ships moored in ports. This requirement is met by using ground power instead of on-board generation during mooring. The shore-to-ship […]
