Efficiency

Environmental awareness is one of the values that has led GBE to develop increasingly efficient and high quality transformers. One of the strengths of the company is the search for the best solution for customers, taking into account the field of application of the transformer and the work load. This way, GBE is able to always guarantee a customized product that allows energy and environmental saving. Although they are very efficient machines, the transformers are responsible for about 30% of the losses in the transmission and distribution systems.

So, to improve them further can only lead to a reduction in CO 2 emissions and running costs. In this context, it fits the new legislation ECODESIGN of the European community, a series of directives divided into two phases, which provides the replacement of all transformers that are not up to standard by 2025. According to the estimates of the European community, about 2.5% of the energy consumed in the continent comes from losses of the transformers. As of 1 July 2015, the first phase of the regulations will commence, the second phase will then come in 2021, where the parameters are much more restrictive. Thanks to this action by the EU, about 16TWh will be saved in a year, almost 3.7 tons of CO2. The legislation is applicable starting from a minimum power of 1 kVA 50Hz for machines used in electrical transmission and in distribution, as well as industrial applications.
GBE transformers are already ahead of the future directive. Their machines are able to guarantee savings up to 50% compared to traditional transformers. Among the various solutions, we find the amorphous metal core transformers, a material which allows the reduction of no-load losses by 70%, which converts into a greater savings for the customer, especially in the long run.
For every field of application, it is possible to find the best solution that can ensure performance and, at the same time, energy and cost savings.

Eco 3+ transformers with amorphous core

  • 17 March 2021

Eco 3+ transformers with amorphous core As of 1 July 2021, all transformer manufacturers will have to strictly comply with the production of transformers classified with the term Tier 2, with the exception of specific applications, as laid down in Regulation no. 548/2014 with Phase 2. However, for over 10 years, GBE has been offering […]

Quay transformers: Shore-to-Ship

  • 27 January 2021

Quay transformers: Shore-to-Ship Respect for the port environment, therefore, reduction of consumption, pollution and noise The regulations in port areas increasingly call for a reduction in the air and noise pollution produced by the ships moored in ports. This requirement is met by using ground power instead of on-board generation during mooring. The shore-to-ship […]
